Arabian nights rectangular shawl
This shawl was inspired by my visit to Jordan last year. On the arrival night I couldn’t sleep, so I went out to balcony and spent several hours watching the black fabric of thy Arabian sky spangled with bright stars. I was enjoying the geometric shapes of constellations and stillness of the night.
I chose a black yarn for this shawl and geometric lace shapes, so I could remember the light breeze of my first Arabian night.
I do hope that you’ll enjoy knitting and wearing this weightless shawl.
This shawl is knitted as one piece, now sewing or grafting needed.
Both charted and written row-by-row instructions provided.
MATERIALS
The sample shown was knitted in Isager Strik Alpaca 1.
The yarn may be substituted with any lace or light fingering weight yarn. Substituting yarns may result in a different finished size and may also affect yardage required. For best results use a natural fiber.
GAUGE 15 sts X 26 rows = 4 inch square in blocked Stockinette Stitch.
Note: gauge is not very important for this pattern, however it will affect the final size of the piece.
NEEDLES
US #6 (4.0 mm)
US #7 (4.5 mm) only to cast on sts.
You may substitute the size in order to obtain gauge
Using smaller size needles will produce a smaller piece.
