Arachne
Arachne is here again, just in time to knit one for October! It now comes in 10 sizes, to fit up to a 67” chest with positive ease. The pattern now features three different sets of spiderweb charts, each with shaping spaced best within the stranded colorwork for a small group of sizes, to provide consistently good fit and similar proportions across the whole range of sizes. In addition to more sizes, the pattern is also loaded up with tips for knitters who are newer to sweater knitting and suggestions of techniques to try for adventurous knitters.
Originally from a pattern collection called Spooky, Arachne is a classic, top-down, circular-yoke pullover sweater with stranded colorwork. It has a vintage-inspired fit with waist shaping, deep ribbing, and ¾-length sleeves, but because it’s knit top down, it’s easy to customize the body to suit your own taste. It’s designed using sport-weight wool, which keeps the yoke from getting bulky without making it too much of a time commitment for a novelty sweater. Although “novelty” is all in the eye of the beholder because I wear mine consistently through the colder months because our spider friends are around all year long!
