These socks feature mirror image angles for a left and right sock. A tubular cast-on gives a neat finish to the cuff and ribbing disappears into the angled patterning. Optional contrasting heels and toes give you an opportunity to add more color.

Yarn: 315 (360, 400) yards total of heavy fingering weight sock yarn. Sample in Oink Pigments Targhee Sock (MC) & Targhee Pigtail (CC) (90% Targhee Woo/10% Nylon, 400 yds/100 gms for full skein, 100 yds/25 gms for Pigtail). Shown in “A Pox! A Pox! A Pox!” (MC) & ”Grape Escape” (CC).
Gauge: 16 sts & 24 rounds = 2 inches (5cm) square in Stockinette.
Notions: 2 stitch markers (4 if working two socks at a time), tapestry needle to weave in ends, cable needle.
Needles: 2.5mm (US1.5) needle(s) or size needed to obtain gauge. Use your preferred method for small
circumference knitting: e.g. double points, magic loop or two-circulars.
Sizes: S(M, L) to fit 7(8, 9) inch (17.75{20.25, 22.75}cm) foot circumferences. Negative ease is built in to the pattern.
Techniques Used: knit, purl, yarnover, make 1 left, make 1 right, k2tog, ssk, use of markers, and short rows.

These socks are knit in the round from the cuff down to the heel. A few sittches are increased at the base of the cuff, then the Shadow Wrap short row heel is worked with right- and wrong-side rows. Then work is rejoined in the round and the gusset is decreased. The foot is worked even until it measures approximately 2.25(2.5, 2.75) inches 5.75(6.35, 7)cm short of total foot length and then the toe is decreased. Live stitches are then grafted together to close the toe using kitchener stitch.

Instructions are given for a right and left foot sock. They have mirror image patterning. If you prefer to have two
matching socks, just knit either Right or Left twice.

Shown in size Medium on an 8 inch (20cm) foot.

I prefer to use Shadow Wrap Short Rows (video tutorial: youtu.be/KBFxyDNUraY) for the heel because the resolve of the turning points is treated like a single stitch. If you prefer to use a different method, replace WSR with a wrap & turn or a Japanese short row turn, and remember to resolve the turning points as necessary for your preferred method.
