Arakhne is a one-skein, semicircular shawlette featuring chains, short stitches, and negative space. More “capelet” than crescent wrap, it’s designed to rest over the shoulders without wrapping or pinning.

This pattern uses American crochet terminology.

Skill Level: Easy. Some focus is needed as there are no repeating rows (similar to working a doily), but only simple stitches and their variations are used. A partial stitch diagram is included to provide a visual of the increases.

Finished Size (after blocking): Approximately 17 1/2” (neckline) / 62” (outer curve) / 12” deep at deepest point.

Gauge: With smaller (F) hook, 24 fsc = 4”; with larger (G) hook, 8 V-sts = 4”; 12 rows in pattern = 4”.

Yarn: Forbidden Fiber Co Gluttony Sock fingering-weight yarn (80% superwash merino / 20% nylon; 435 yd (398 m): 1 skein (shown in color Design Boss)
or
Forbidden Fiber Co Pride light fingering-weight yarn (70% superwash merino / 20% nylon / 10% stellina); 495 yd (453 m): 1 skein (shown in color Pale Moonlight).
