A few years ago, I was exploring color design using the German short-row technique, which resulted in this wing-shaped shawl. As I was recording how to work the pattern, I discovered a couple of problems with the traditional way of writing pattern instructions for this type of design, so I simplified the directions to be less repetitive and eliminated the need to count every stitch as it is worked.
