I have always been fascinated by the patterns in nature that look woven, like palm fronds and pinecone scales. This pattern came about because I was looking for something a little more interesting than a simple chevron, and a little more challenging than typical tiled laces, and so I did a little tweaking to a published stitch to come up with something that looks woven but flowing at the same time. Like the organic shapes and patterns in palms of the family Arecales, from which this scarf takes its name, this scarf is beautiful and functional, interesting but not too out of this world. The stitch pattern is both charted and written.
