“This sweater is inspired by air and my childhood memories of air. For me air is movement, a smell, and a feeling. It is the movement of leaves blowing in the wind and the smell of spring when I am in the garden. It is also memories from my childhood of going to thee ocean, feeling the sea breezes, seeing the birds soar in the distance, and smelling everything that the ocean is. This sweater is a memory of, and ode to, the air and everything it encounters. The mohair and Spinni Isager yarns are light, airy, and with a gentle drape. It is delicate and shimmery like air and the leaf pattern in the sweater moves with the wind. However, like air it is also robust being warm enough for a spring walk about town or a trip to the sea.” -Claudia Q
Designed for Eweknit by Claudia Q with a big thanks to
Linda Brett for taking the design ideas and improving them during the process of knitting the initial sample.
PATTERN UPDATE & ERRATA
As of April 2020, we have added written chart instructions. Please make sure you are using version 2 (V2) of the pattern for this update.
We have also changed the yarn recommendation from Isager Tvinni to Isager Spinni, as our original sample was knit in Spinni. Tvinni yarn will still produce excellent results for this design, but please make sure to check your gauge (as always). Thanks
