Arrakeen Infinity Scarf

Inspired by the imagery in the Dune series, this texture of this pattern reminds me of the rolling Dunes on planet Arrakis. Named for the main city Arrakeen, this scarf is both bold and comforting, just like the warm colour of the sand that surrounds it.

You will need:

  • Yarn: DK (3) weight, approximately 480 yds/439m. Sample was made with Knitcrate Vidalana Oasis in the colour Sahara (Alpaca and merino wool blend, 250 yds/229m, 100g per skein).
  • Hook: US H/5mm Tunisian crochet hook with short cord attached, or size needed to meet gauge (if using different weight yarn, size up or down accordingly)
  • Notions: measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle, blocking mat and pins (optional)

Instructions are written for one size, approximately 6.5”/17cm wide, 74”/188cm long (before sewing the short ends together to make it an infinity scarf). This pattern is very easy to customize for different weight yarns, and also to adjust the width and length. You can also leave it unseamed in a traditional long scarf shape.

The pattern includes detailed written instructions as well as links to tutorial videos where appropriate. You may sell finished items, all I ask is for credit to be given by linking back to the blog post or this page.

This pattern is a FREE pattern on the Capital Crochet blog! It is part of the Scarftober series, a celebration of scarves, cowls and shawls. The ad-free pdf is also available, if you prefer working from a pattern that way.
