Arranmore
Welcome to Ireland!
This textured shawl/throw reflects the historical elements of the traditional Aran Fisherman Sweaters in a contemporary and functional style.
Created from a single color of DK weight yarn with some interesting textures and luscious cables you have the choice of four different project sizes in two different shapes:
• Triangle Shawl
• Larger Triangle Shawl
• Square Shawl/Baby Blanket
• Larger Square Throw
Once again our friends at Stunning String Studio are offering “Arranmore” yarn kits including yarn in your choice of amazing colors, complete with cable needle, stitch markers and more!
Originally knit as the January project for our WPKnits Club Mystery Knit Along for 2016. As we “toured” Ireland and learned about the amazing country and its history.
Pattern discussions are in the Wild Prairie Knits group, so come and join us.
This pattern is knitCompanion® supported. What does that mean?
Details:
Skills: Pattern is fully written out and charted line by line. The stitches used are all very basic, so it is a relaxing knit, but with lots of detail to keep you interested. Basic knit increases and decreases (yo, k2tog, ssk) are included, but anything beyond is explained in detail. Offers a good introduction to cables.
Yarn: Stunning String Plump (100% Superwash Merino, 275 yds (251 m), 100 grams), 2-6 skeins.
Or any DK weight yarn, 550-1650 yds (503-1509m).
Recommendations: Pattern was written with single color kettle dyed yarns in mind.
Needles: US 6 (4.0 mm) 40” - 60” (100-150 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 18.5 stitches & 25 rows per 4” (10cm) in unblocked stockinette stitch. Although gauge is not critical, it will affect overall size and yarn requirements.
Other: Stitch Markers and Cable Needle
