Arrochar
♫ The Music ♫
The Arrochar Alps overlook the small village of Arrochar nestled near the head of Loch Long. The Maid of Arrochar is a slow air first published in 1789 and attributed to Scottish composer John MacDonald of Dundee. This air is still popular especially among Cape Breton musicians.
Arrochar is a short-sleeved, raglan cardigan with a dropped back hemline and upper-back, wrapped-rib band.
Details
- A cable and lace panel is worked down both front edges; a matching motif graces the upper back as well as the sleeve cuffs.
- The remainder of the body is worked in Stockinette stitch.
- The eyelet border at the neckline incorporates the single buttonhole closure; the bottom hem and sleeve cuffs are finished with an eyelet border to complement the neckline.
- A wrapped-rib band is added to the upper centre back to give some discrete definition to the silhouette.
Construction
- Worked top-down beginning with a Double Chain Cast On (picture tutorial included).
- Fronts, back and sleeves are worked as one unit to the underarm; sleeves are then placed on hold to be worked later.
Both charts and written directions for charts are included.
