I designed this shawl as an introduction to shawl knitting, including elements like a garter tab cast on, center spine increases, a few different simple lace patterns and a picot bind off. I also wanted it to drape nicely over the shoulders. The final result reminded me of the butterflies that show up in my garden during the summer here in Eureka.

The pattern calls for one ball of variegated or self-striping yarn and one ball of a solid color yarn.
