Artume (named for an Etruscan moon goddess) is a garter stitch shawl knit side to side and bottom to top. Simple increases and decreases create the long, crescent-shaped border and its eyelet picot edging, and the main body of the shawl is picked up from the edge and formed into another crescent with short rows. The two stacked crescents create a long shawl with a nice height in the center. Play with color and stripes – you’ll need a couple skeins of fingering weight yarn and just a bit of leftovers for a fun pop of light.

Specific yarn requirements:
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (100% Merino; 420 yds/ 384 m per 114g); 1 skein each of Logwood, lavender (C1), Fluoro Rose, neon pink (C2), and Medeival, dark pink (C3)
Or, 3 colors of fingering weight yarn: 400 yds/ 365 m of C1, 40 yds/ 37 m of C2, and 400 yds/ 365 m of C3

Needles:
US 6 (4 mm) circular needle, at least 32”/ 80 cm long, or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge:
17 sts & 40 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Garter Stitch
Meeting this exact gauge is not crucial, but any major differences will affect the size of the finished shawl as well as yarn requirements.
