This is an old idea, but done any way you like. Want to make it on circular needles? … okay. Only have straights in the car? … that’s fine. Need a quick shower gift and the shower is in two hours? … knock it off on a simple knitting machine.

Larger needle size is for the body of the hat, smaller size for the ribbing.

Machine knit version done on a Singer LK-100 (simple - nothing fancy, I do my ribbings by hand).
