This was my go-to design for a number of trips, but it’s only now I’m not travelling that I finally got a chance to write it up.

I’ve named it after the Ashikaga Flower Park where I first saw the fabulous wisteria displays that the soft purple one reminds me of - I have included a few photos of the park here on the pattern page.
you can see more on my project page - ashikaga, but we were there at the very end of the season, if you want to see the park in its full glory, try these: link to photos of the park (also sometimes written Asikaga)

It’s great travel knitting because it’s easy to see by looking at your knitting what you need to do next, making it easy to pick up and put down.
For now we’re not travelling, but with our minds so busy it’s still a useful asset.

The pattern is charted only, but once you have things set up, you’ll be able to “read” your knitting easily.

You can use:

a single yarn (fingering or sport weight) - allow approx. 400m/440yds

2 lace weight yarns held together - allow approx. 350m/365yds of each

Very easy to knit, but a striking result.

Ideally you’ll have scales to weigh your yarn, but if not, you can eyeball it.
