Ashmore is a traditional triangular shawl with stripes, eyelets, and a little lace to finish off. A shawl of tranquility, for a moment of peace wherever you need it. Surprisingly warm for so light a piece, Ashmore will be a welcome wardrobe addition. Comfort knitting at its best.

Sample shown in ‘Fairy Wren’ (Colour A) and ‘Ashmore’ (Colour B). Sample used 355 metres/388 yards Colour A and 285 metres/312 yards Colour B.

For Ashmore I have used (and highly recommend) the Magic Garter Tab cast on, developed by Georgie Nicholson/tikki. A traditional Garter Tab cast on will also work. The pattern provides instructions for this, and a link to the Magic Garter Tab so that you can choose the method that suits you best.

Ashmore is a companion pattern to Milkwood.

Materials:

White Gum Wool 4ply Ethical Superfine Merino
(472 meters / 100 grams) – 2 balls
4mm/US 6 needles – 100cm/40” circular
or size needed to match tension
Needle 1 size larger for bind off (optional)
22 Stitch markers (optional)
Embroidery needle for weaving in ends
Blocking wires & pins (optional)

Tension (blocked firmly, worked flat):
Stocking Stitch:
18 stitches and 38 rows = 10cm/4”

Your gauge will affect the size of the finished shawl as well as the amount of yarn you will use. If in doubt, stock up on extra.

Width: 182cm/71.75”
