Åsne is a triangular shawl worked from one corner to the long edge on the opposite side. It is worked in garter stitch and eyelet rows. It’s made for the most beautiful skeins of sock yarn that you’d rather wear around your neck than on your feet. A single skein of fingering weight sock yarn will produce a decent size shawl.

Åsne is the Norwegian cousin of Taina.

You can continue the shawl until you run out of yarn. You can stop after any row.

Handmaiden Fine Yarn Silk Twist (400 m/437 yd per 100 g) (shown in Nova Scotia)
Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (384 m/420 yd per 100 g)

Yardage:
384 m/422 yd (100 g) or more.

Gauge:
18 sts and 34 rows per 10 cm in garter stitch blocked, but gauge is not crucial.

Needles:
3.75 mm (US 5) or the size you need to get a soft fabric which you like and which drapes well.

There are two pdf files for each language (English and Finnish). One of them is shorter and works better if you will print the file on paper, the other one is longer and more practical if you follow the pattern using a device.

Åsne on kulmasta aloitettava kolmiohuivi. Huivi on suunniteltu käsinvärjätyn sukkalangan kauneimmille vyyhdeille, joita ei malta käyttää sukkiin vaan niitä haluaa pitää kaulallaan. Huivissa vuorottelevat aina oikein neulotut raidat ja yksinkertainen pitsi.

Huivia voi jatkaa niin pitkään kuin lankaa riittää. Jo yhdestä vyyhdistä saa hyvänkokoisen huivin.
