Aspect Ratio Scarf
PATTERN STORY
Geometry and ratios are my favroite things to play with in knitting. I’ve had this idea for an intarsia scarf for a long time, but it didn’t feel right. Then I thought, ‘why not make it double knitting’. Everything fell into place after that.
SKILLS NEEDED
Double knitting
Tubular Cast On
Kitchener stitch
This project is suitable for an intermediate knitter.
CONSTRUCTION
The scarf is knit flat from beginning to end
YARN
Drops Daisy 110 m/ 120 yds per 50g
This project uses 200g / 4 balls of each color. 400g total.
You can use 400g of any DK weight yarn (200g of each color)
GAUGE & NEEDLES
Gauge is 18 sts x 24 rows per 10 cm / 4 in in double knitting
Needle A: 3.5 mm / US 4 with a 40 cm / 16 in cable
Gauge is not important for this project, but it will affect the drape and size of the final scarf.
RECOMMENDED NOTIONS
Removable stitch markers & a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
SIZING
One size - approx 203 x 20 cm , 80 x 8 in
This pattern is meant to use as much of your yarn as possible so depending on your gauge and yarn, size may vary.
