Notes:
The Aster Beanie is a made from the top down and then the brim ribbing is added on at the end. Even though it’s worked in the round, we will be turning at the end of each round worked.
Advanced beginner (must understand anatomy of stitch (BLO) and crab stitch, turning working in the round, increasing, extended half double crochet, and add on ribbing technique.
Links of video tutorials are included for the crab stitch and add on ribbing technique.
First, our hat is worked in the main color. Afterwards we will work in the crab stitch to add in some flair, shown in the green in hat below. The crab stitch is worked in the unworked loops from the FLO only rounds that are worked throughout the hat. You can add as many rounds of the crab stitch as you like throughout the hat. For my sample, I did 3. They take very little yarn so it can be fun to experiment with stripes or multiple colors.
The crab stitch is optional and can be left off for a simple and textured beanie that fits perfectly for woman, men, and children.
