Astrid Slippers
Little slippers knit up quickly. They are knit in the round with double-pointed needles and have a single piece construction. The heel is knit flat and sewn together and then the top of the slipper is knit like a mitten. Astrid Slippers keep little ones cozy on chilly nights or frosty mornings. I love the happy crowns at the top of the slipper and the fleur-de-lis pattern at the bottom of the foot. The ribbon is optional, and can be threaded through the bottom of the slipper, and tied at the top of the foot.
Astrid was my seventh slipper design in a series of twelve published in NorseKnits E-book.
Felted Gauge
Lightly felted 28 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches or 10 cm
Note: Pay attention to your gauge and use whatever size needle you need to knit 24 stitches and 24 rows for 4 inches. While teaching a class on these slippers, I have seen knitters use needles as small as a US 2 and as large as a US 5.
