Astrum is a fair isle cowl knit in-the-round and subsequently joined together. The cowl begins with a provisional cast on and the ends of the “tube” are joined using kitchener stitch. Videos for the provisional cast on and working kitchener stitch in-the-round are included in the pattern. The Fair Isle pattern is charted.

SIZE
One size:
Approximately 8” tall by 54” circumference

YARN
One skein of Marianated Yarns Practicality (75% superwash merino/25 nylon, 463 yds/100 g) in Stone Basin (MC) and one set of Marianated Yarns Sheldon and Missy’s Countdown to 2022 –Advent Calendar Style (24 individually wrapped Lynnette minis - 10 grams/46 yards in Practicality (CC 1 through 24)
OR
400 yards of equivalent fingering weight yarn and 40 yards each of equivalent fingering weight yarn for each of the 24 CCs (total yardage for CCs is 960 yards)

MATERIALS
Two US 3/3.25 mm 16-inch circular needles
One Size F crochet hook (optional – only if using crochet provisional cast on)
Waste yarn for provisional cast on and holding live stitches
Two removable stitch markers
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

GAUGE
32 sts by 34 rounds = 4” on US 3 in Fair Isle pattern before blocking

31 sts by 30 rounds = 4” on US 3 in Fair Isle pattern after blocking
