Show your support for the sciences! The hat features an atom motif across the crown with the pompom as the nucleus. The brim of the hat is knit sideways and then stitches are picked up and the crown is knit in the round.

Sizing: As written, this pattern will make a close fitting hat that fits most adults. If a roomier hat is desired rep rnds 2, 4, 6, and 8 of the crown one additional time.

Gauge: 28 Rows = 4 inches in garter stitch
NOTE: the brim of the Hat is knit sideways so row count determines matters fit.

Materials:
•Yarn: 150 yds worsted weight yarn
•Needles: US size 8 straight needles, Set of 5 US size 8 double pointed needles (or circular needle if magic loop is preferred.)
•Other Tools: 6 small stitch holders, cable needle. tapestry needle, stitch marker.
•Additional Supplies: 1 pompom

NOTE: For a wider brim that can be folded back add 6 extra stitches at the CO to be worked in garter stitch.
