My eight year old is an avid knitter. He wanted to make a hat for a friend as a gift. He wanted to do more than one color, “but not stripes.” He picked out the yarn and I helped him come up with the color work pattern. He and his best buddies are pretty happy with the results.

A simple color work hat that would be great for your first try at stranded color work. The pattern comes in child and adult sizes. You’ll need 3 skeins total, one of each color. You’ll have enough yarn to make 3 hats, one in each color.
