Aumangea Pullover
Pay What Works: In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I and others provide in the making of this pattern. The price shown on Ravelry is the “true” value of the pattern that best reflects the work put into creating this design.
To purchase the pattern at a price point that is more accessible to you, use the coupon code at checkout listed next to the price point. The prices indicate the price you will pay, not the discount amount. No coupon code is needed for the highest price point.
AROHA1 - $7.50
AROHA2 - $9.00
AROHA3 - $12.00
NO CODE - $15.00
Please note for those located in Europe that VAT is applied at checkout.
Other ways to support my work is through leaving a tip via Ko-Fi, or becoming a supporter via Patreon.
Aumangea: the Maori word for a person who is strong, brave, plucky, or tenacious. Does this describe you? Also named for the yarn used in this design, the Plucky Knitter, this pullover will be a (small) test of your character! Only the bravest and most resilient can knit this. But fear not, if you really want to give this project a go but are feeling hesitant, I have provided video and written tutorials a-plenty.
Pattern has been test-knit and professionally tech edited for errors and clarification.
And of course email support is provided if needed! Contact fdanoy@arohaknits.com and I will get back to you within 24-48 hours.
Special thank you to Plucky Knitter for the yarn support.
YARN
- Worsted / 10 ply
- Plucky Knitter Primo Worsted (75% Merino, 20% Cashmere, 5% Nylon; 200 yards / 105 grams).
- Worked in two colorways, High Cotton (grey) as main color and Dirty Blonde (yellow) as contrast color.
- For Substitutions: Use wool or a wool blend. You want a yarn that can under-go large amounts of stretch but still retain its original shape when taken off.

GAUGE
- 18 sts and 30 rows per 4 inches (10cm) flat in St. st. using larger needle
- 22 sts and 28 rows per 4 inches (10cm) in the round in St. st. using smaller needle
- 24 sts and 30 rows per 4 inches (10cm) in k1, p1 ribbing flat and in the round using smaller needle
- Take time to swatch for gauge. Please note that both stitch and row gauge are important for this design. Make sure you are achieving both or you’ll need to make a lot of adjustments as you work the pattern.
