Autumn Aztec Socks
Inspired by the rich color combinations of Aztec and Southwestern motifs, these beautiful socks are perfect for a sock knitter in need of a bit of a challenge. Worked from the top down with a heel flap and gusset construction, these socks features a striking black and white pattern with rust cuffs, heels and toes.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Size: 8 (9)” foot circumference, foot length can be adjusted to any size.
Shown in size 9”.
Gauge: For size small (8”): 36 sts and 44 rows = 4” 10 cm in stranded pattern after wet blocking on larger needles (2.5 mm/ US 1.5).
For size medium (9”): 32 sts and 44 rows = 4” 10 cm in stranded pattern after wet blocking on larger needles (2.75 mm/ US 2).
Materials:
Yarn: Lang Yarns Jawoll Superwash (75% virgin wool/25% nylon; 230 yards 210 meters/50 grams): 83.0094 Offwhite (MC, 1 (1) ball), 83.0004 Black (CC1, 1 (1) ball), 83.0215 Rusty Red (CC2, 1 (1) ball).
Needles:
For size small: US 1 (2.25 mm) and US 1.5 (2.5 mm) double pointed needles.
For size medium: US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and US 2 (2.75 mm) double pointed needles.
Notions: Markers, tapestry needle.
