Autumn Equinox
Introducing the Autumn Equinox Sweater, the third installment in the Seasonal Selection! This is a lightweight fall sweater, complete with falling leaves! Perfect for a crisp autumn day! The maple leaves are beautifully detailed, tho – fair warning – they’re a little fiddly! I think the fiddly-ness is worth it, tho, because I plan to wear this sweater all fall! Apple picking, leaf-peeping, apple picking, pumpkin picking, did I mention apple picking?
You can use any DK (#3) weight yarn. I used Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday DK in Dove (MC) and Lion Brand Unforgettable in Sunset (AC). You’ll need 700-1800 yards MC, and 175-400 yards AC, depending on size.
This top was actually the first one of the Seasonals that I knew I was going to make. I got the yoke done up to and including the leaves, and realized that it was January and it just wasn’t the time for fall leaves just yet. Yes, I’ve been sitting on this design since January, and it’s been KILLING ME to wait to show it to you – but thankfully, that wait is now over!!!
This yoke top blouse is worked top down. The leaves along the yoke are made in the round, and secured at the bottom with a half-double crochet, so there’s no sewing, and they lay flat! The main body and sleeves of the sweater is a simple repeat of 3 rows, with increases and decreases worked in.
This lovely sweater comes in sizes Small (32”) to 5XL (60”). You will need a basic understanding of the crochet stitches chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet. Special stitches, like the Crossed Stitch and the Maple Leaf are fully explained.
As always you are welcome to reach out if you have any questions about the pattern. Once the pattern is purchased, you may sell your finished items, as long as you give credit to me as the designer.
