I have recently added a flared bottom to my cowl designs, and this feature has proved popular: you’ll find it here as well. This cowl, generous in height, is meant to convey autumn (or fall) colors as I remember them. Living in Southeast Asia we do not experience this season and I miss it very much. The cowl is worked in a light fingering weight yarn that is pure Merino wool. The yarn I used may be difficult to find, so I encourage you to use one of your favorite yarns that will yield the gauge indicated. Experiment with colors as well – to create the shades of autumn as you know them.

Materials
Bernini MERINO WOOL (50 grams, 150 meters, 100% Merino wool): 1 skein each of #12 (Color 1); #10 (Color 2); #08 (Color 3); #16 (Color 4); #25 (Color 5); and #22 (Color 6)
Please note that this yarn is from China and may be difficult to find. I encourage you to substitute a light fingering weight yarn that will yield the specified gauge – and in your choice of colors to represent the season as you experience it.
