Autumn Kiss
Autumn Kiss
It was the first kiss of autumn,
the time for renewal.
The wind sung a lullaby to the leaves,
reminding them of their magic,
& those greens turned to yellow, red and brown.
Falling softly on the wispy wings of bottomless ice,
they realized that they may now let go & rest
& life will still go on.
No need to rush,
as the kiss of the autumn had just touched their very soul.
I had a long time wish to make a pocket scarf. Something about these scarves makes me feel cozy and secure. It is like I can put my hands in them and magically be hugged by someone I love or by someone who have passed on but I’ve not let them go yet.
I even love the feeling that I can hide in them all those fancy rocks and knick-knacks that the fairies leave for me. That is why I made “Autumn Kiss”, both this pocket scarf and the poem above.
I had designed this scarf a few years ago with a different design without the pockets. Well, that design is still waiting to be written. My boho mind just takes its own fancy and I almost always end up with something else than what I had originally thought.
When I began making this scarf, these yarn colors in my stash kept telling me to choose them. Guess what? They all looked very much like Autumn to me and the scarf kept on happening with my hands.
I had a hard time figuring out the design for the pockets and after experimenting with 50 or so different stitch patterns, the Puff stitch won!!! It had to, it’s one of my most favorite stitch.
I love the raised, multi-dimentional fun texture of this scarf. The ribbed pattern of the scarf and the bumpy Puff stitches on the pockets makes you want to touch them and pop them like a bubble wrap.
If you are one like me who enjoys texture, you’ll love making this textured scarf just as much as I enjoyed making it.
