Avondale

Avondale is a poncho derived in an ethereal blend of shape, cables, stranded colourwork, and lace. Vibes of elven woods resonate. Knit top down, this piece has a very unique and multi-directional construction. All of the colourwork is knit in the round with ladderback jacquard across the cables. The horizontal cable band is worked first and joined at the front and back centres with short rows, then continued upward in the folded colourwork collar. The colourwork yoke is picked up from the horizontal cable band and continued downward to the front and back body separation. The lace and cable poncho body is worked flat to the hem and finished with buttons on the sides.

Avondale is pattern #4 of Landed, Volume 1: The Avalon, Timeless Lace and Stranded Knitting Patterns for the Adventurous Handknitter.
