This pattern is incredibly special to me. The yarn color “Cousteau” inspired me in the name and the dedication of this shawl. I’ve been a John Denver fan most of my life. His music has inspired me and what I’ve done in many aspects of my life.
His song “Calypso,” written for Jacques Cousteau and his ship, was the inspiration in this design, and so, I’d like to dedicate it both to John, and to Jacques Cousteau, with 10% of the proceeds of every sale going to the Reef Ball Foundation, in the name of Jacques Cousteau and his ship, Calypso. They rebuild and support the growth of reefs and dying reefs in the world’s oceans.
Thank you for your support.

The pattern is a traditional top-down, garter-tab construction, with a center insert and two side triangles. The edges use a slip stitch for a clean edge. It uses one skein of each color, and of course colors are interchangeable.

The pattern won a ribbon in the 2022 Knitter’s Guild of America Shawl Competition.
