Babie Lato Shawl
The pattern has been tested by English speaking knitters. Instructions were proofread. Written and charted instructions and photo tutorials included.
“Babie Lato” means “balooning”, or “kiting”. It can also mean “Indian Summer” or “Gossamer”. Spiders spin a web and then wait for wind to carry them. The shawl is light as air, reversible, worked sidewayse in a triangle shape, as shown in the picture. You need to have basic knitting knowlede for this pattern, but the stitch pattern requires careful attention to avoid mistakes.
Suggested yarns: solid colours, from lace to sport
Tools: 3 markers, crochet hook, needles 3.5 mm (US 4)
Gauge: 18 sts & 28 rows = 4x4 inches (10x10cm) in lace after blocking. The gauge is not crucial.
Obtaining the given gauge is not crucial but differences will affect the finished size and the yardage needed.
Babie Lato Shawl is worked in one piece from left to right.
For the Shawl, either divide your yarn into two almost equal parts, or weigh it. You will need a little bit more yarn for the decrease section than for the increase section. Start working the decrease section just before you reach the halfway point in your yardage.
