Baby Asian Elephant
Put yourself in the mother elephant’s shoes - you’re pregnant for 18-22 months, give birth to a 250 pound baby, and then have to nurse it for 10 years! Baby elephants make up for it all by being pretty cute though. :-)
This pattern is worked both flat and in the round. Tiny safety eyes add that special baby look, but a bit of embroidery will work too. The proboscis is a straighter and slightly more clumsy than the adult’s. :-) Finished baby is around 7” long and 3” wide.
Learn more about this wonderful animal and 24 others when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
