This pattern would be wonderful in any color, pastel or bright, but we like knitting it in yellow when we don’t know if baby will be a boy or girl. Block pattern is easy, but is a classic that can be handed down for generations.

Gauge for hat is 18 sts/30 rows in Garter Stitch.

Hat has directions for two sizes: 6 to 9 mos. (17” circumference) and 12 to 16 mos. (18”)

Pattern calls for four balls of recommended yarn to make both pieces.

Pattern calls for a 29” US 9 circular needle to accommodate the number of stitches in the blanket and size US 8 needles for the hat.
