From the book (pg. 42): “To adapt the pattern for a taller bottle, simply knit the required number of additional inches. Instructions are given for DK-weight yarn first, followed by worsted-weight yarns in parentheses. Since different yarns will be used and this is not a garment, gauge is not crucial. Still, it’s a good idea to make a swatch to see if you can get close to the suggested gauge, changing the needle size if necessary.”

Gauge given for worsted (Manos del Uruguay) version: 20 sts & 28 rows in stockinette stitch.
