Supplies
1 - #10 Cotton Thread - Green or Blue
1 - #10 Cotton Thread – Antique
#2/2.25 mm Metal Crochet Hook
Suggested yarn; Loops and Thread Woolike (1 super fine) Acrylic (pictured)
2 skeins – 3.5 oz./100 gms/678 yards/620 meters
1 main color, 1 contrasting color
Note: Different yarns can be used with appropriate hook
size resulting in different lengths of wire required
1/2.75 mm hook
PolyFill Stuffing – to stuff body as you progress
Eyes (2) - Post Animal (slanted) Safety Eyes (5mm)
Stiffening Agent- Nail Polish, Fabric Mod Podge, Craft Glue – clear for stiffening waves, spikes, and nails
Tapestry Needle – for sewing
Pliers/Wire Cutters – for cutting wire and bending over ends
Stitch Markers
1 Chop Stick/drinking straw (I find it easier to use to hold open legs
and crochet around chop stick to keep track of stitches)
Wire: If you choose to use to make wings stay up (can also
stiffen to desired shape then attach to body) and to make
legs and body pose able. 18 gauge (Depending on
tension and stuffing lengths might vary slightly for above
suggested thread)
Body 16” Front Legs: 11” Back legs 13”
Wings 15” Wing Spines: 7 ½” (22 gauge)

Increase (Inc) 2 stitches same space
Decrease (Dec) complete 2 spaces as one – start stitch in 2
spaces, complete as 1 stitch reducing stitch count by 1 space
Short Row – complete number of stitches, slip stitch next
marker space, turn. Work short row between markers (if noted
sc to get to correct starting point)
Sc # = how many spaces to sc in
#Sc = how many sc in next space
Front Loop Only (FLO)
