Finished chest (fullest point) circumference: 76 (87, 97, 107, 117) (127, 137, 148, 158)cm / 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62) inches – to be worn with approximately 0-5cm / 0-2 inches positive ease. However a slight amount of negative ease would also be suitable.

The model’s height is 155cm / 5 feet 1 inches, with a chest (fullest point) circumference of approximately 76cm / 30 inches and is shown wearing size 1 with no ease.

MATERIALS
Recommended Yarn

Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit (fingering weight; 100% cotton; 180m / 195 yds per 50g / 1.75oz)

The modelled sample is shown in colour 9564 Matcha
3 (4, 4, 5, 6) (6, 6, 8, 8) balls

OR
approximately 505 (585, 690, 805, 905) (1055, 1185, 1290, 1365) m / 550 (640, 755, 880, 995) (1160, 1305, 1420, 1500) yards of a fingering weight yarn

Yarn Substitution: Choose a 100% cotton or summery fibre fingering weight yarn with a little bit of structure. Cotton or linen blended with other fibres (silk, bamboo, wool, etc) would work well. Wool sock yarn is an option as well, if you would like a warmer tee.

Yarn Substitution Ideas:
Rowan Summer Lite 4ply
Ritual Dyes Undine
Sandnes Garn Tynn Line…and so many more…!

Needles
• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle 80-100cm / 32-40 inch long (longer needle for size 5+) for body, PLUS a 40cm / 16 inch circular needle for sleeves*

• 3mm (US 2½) circular needle 80-100cm / 32-40 inch long (longer needle for size 5+) for hem, PLUS a circular needle 40cm / 16 inch long for collar and sleeve edgings*

• OPTIONAL: 2.5mm (US 1½) or 2.75mm (US 2) needle any style for hem and sleeve edge bind off

For sizes 1, 2 and 3, you may prefer to use double pointed needles or magic loop to work the sleeves, as the 40cm / 16 inch circular is a bit too long. I was able to work the sleeves for size 1 on a 40cm / 16 inch circular by carefully stretching the sts over the needle without any issues to the final sleeve, but it was a bit awkward.

Use needle size needed to obtain correct gauge

Notions
3 stitch markers, 4 removable stitch markers, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle

GAUGE
23 sts x 32 rows = 10 cm / 4 inches on 3.5mm (US 4) needles in Stocking stitch pattern, blocked.
Adjust needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge.

To check your gauge as accurately as possible, consider knitting your swatch in the round: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBak9CfMtXM

NOTES
This tee is worked with seamless construction from the top down. First the back neck is worked flat and the shoulders are shaped with increases. Fronts are picked up from shoulders and worked to underarms, and the body is joined in round. Sleeves are picked up and knit from armhole edges and shaped with German short-rows.

This design utilizes European shoulder seams (aka. fully fashioned shoulder shaping) where the back shoulders are deeply sloped by working increases on every row, and the front shoulders have no slope. This naturally places the shoulder seam to sit at the back of the shoulder. To accommodate this fit, the front armholes are intentionally knit approximately 5cm / 2 inches longer than the back armholes.

This tee is intended to be worn fitted with 0-5cm / 0-2 inches of positive ease. It has been graded to fit standard shoulder widths and chest circumferences. The body has no shaping. However, individuals may wish to add shaping to suit their personal needs, such as bust darts and / or waist shaping. The pattern does not include instructions for these techniques, as admittedly, I don’t feel confident enough to include shaping instructions that would be suitable for everyone, but links have been provided for reputable tutorials to help with these techniques if desired. Side markers have been placed at each side of the body to help with any shaping added. If no shaping is required, these side markers can be omitted.

This tee has a cropped length. If adding significant length for a less cropped fit, more yarn will be required.

Left and right shaping instructions (ie. “Front Left Shoulder”) refer to the orientation of the garment when it is worn, and not to the left or right side of the garment when it is facing you during construction.

Other yarn colours of Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit that are shown in this pattern are 9041 Dusty Light Green, and 2581 After Dark.
