Pattern description from Stitch ‘N Bitch Nation: “Lately there has been a spate of new babies among my friends, and that means a never-ending need for baby gifts. This little sweater was developed in response to looking for something classic but contemporary and still a bit saucy to fit modern mommy tastes. It’s a twist on a simple piece that offers an opportunity for a fine gauge and intarsia in a smaller project. Classic tattoos and vintage textiles inspired the swallows, but if you omit these motifs and knit in a solid color, the cardi is still absolutely elegant due to its fine gauge. Add the motifs and the contrasting trim and the variations are endless for customizing. The directions are written for mirrored motifs on the chest, but this cardi really invites experimentation and is a great baby shower standard.”
