The shawl ’Balance’ is inspired by the idea of using those precious scraps – both the little and the big ones – and end up with a beautiful project carrying the memories of other knits – the baby blanket for a family child, the adored sweater worn to bits, the hat gifted at Christmas. ‘Balance’ is in other words the shawl version of the “empty the fridge stew” – absolutely wonderful if done right, and utterly unrepeatable. Every version of Balance will be as unique as each knitter and their stash.

The shawl is an upward curving semi-circular shawl and is knit from the middle of the neck and out toward the edge. The edge is knit sideways onto the shawl at the end.

Materials
Approximately 350-400 g scrap yarn in all the colours.

The shawl is knit using both thick and thin yarn (hold 2-3 strands of thinner yarns together and knit with just 1 of the thicker yarn) held together so you get gauge on a size 5.5 mm needle.

Circular needle 5.5 mm, 80-100 cm, circular needle 5 mm for the edge.

Final measurements
210 cm along the top edge
55 cm deep at centre
