Ballets Russes Wrap
Paul Poiret’s designs and Russian ballet productions simultaneously introduced Paris to “Oriental” themes in the early twentieth century. Here, cable motifs appear between long, sinuous lines on this luxurious alpaca and silk shawl.

FINISHED SIZE 65″ long and 14.5 (19)” wide. Wrap shown measures 19″.
YARN Blue Sky Fibers Alpaca Silk (50% alpaca, 50% silk; 146 yd / 1.75 oz): #120 white, 4 (5) skeins.
NEEDLES Size 6 (4 mm): 24″ circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS Cable needle; tapestry needle.
GAUGE 19 sts and 27 rows = 4″ in lace patt.
NOTES This wrap is worked back and forth in rows. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
