Balloons
Pattern notes:
These mitts are worked in the round from bottom to top. After a short section of 1x1 rib, the body is worked with a cable stitch pattern, following the chart or the written instructions. The thumb stitches are purl. The mitt and thumb tops are finished with 1x1 rib.
Skills:
-work in the round small circumferences
-knit cables (it is not mandatory, but it helps to make it easier)
I have make a small photo tutorial for show how to do the cable stitch
Yarn:
About 50 grams of Dk weight yarn
The sample is knitted with “Garnstudio Drops Cotton Merino”, 50% Cotton, 50% Merino 110 meters / 50 grams, colorway: koralle (13)
Gauge:
23 sts and 26 rounds to 10cm / 4in over stockinette stitch and 3.5 mm needle
30 sts and 29 rounds to 10cm / 4in over pattern stitch and 3.5 mm needle
After blocking and unstretched
Needles and notions:
-3.5 mm needle of your preferred type for working small circumferences (for example: you can choose a circular needle with a long cable for working magic loop, or double pointed needle(s))
-2 cable needles
-1 stitch marker (for the beginning of round), and 4 extra markers (to separate repetitions and thumb)
-scrap yarn (for old the thumb stitches)
-scissors
-tapestry needle
