About
I was feeling anxious around election time. I needed to knit, but everything I had on needles required counting or concentrating, and that wasn’t going to happen. I also was itching to break out the skein. You know the one I mean. The skein of yarn that cost too much, but couldn’t be resisted because of the beautiful colors and soft hand, the one to save for just the right occasion like a fine wine.
Bare Necessity is the pattern born out of these considerations, and it requires and provides just the essentials: a simple project for the mind to wander using just one skein of even your busiest yarn and a pair of knitting needles.
Construction
Bare Necessity is an asymmetrical triangle shawl designed to be comfort knitting both for crafting and wearing. The pattern is a simple, quick knit showcasing that single skein of hand-painted or multicolored yarn you couldn’t resist, but not so simple that you get bored with the knitting. It’s a snuggly small wrap for your neck or shoulders in alternating garter squish and mesh. The wingspan has a picot edge that you picot as you go. The long edge has an undulating wave shape and the short side is a straight edge.
