Last year, I left a piece of my heart in Barcelona… somewhere in the Gothic Quarter’s maze of narrow streets! While strolling through medieval alleyways, getting lost (sometimes intentionally, sometimes not), and discovering real gems off the beaten tracks, I absorbed the atmosphere of this extraordinary town.
Later at home, an equally atmospheric yarn was waiting for me: hand-dyed in Spain by the talented Feliz Y Punto – my countrywoman. And thus the Barri Gotic shawl was born – inspired by Gothic architecture and gorgeous yarn.
Barri Gotic is a triangular shawl, worked sideways from the tip to the widest part, and shaped with increases hidden in the side braids.
The intriguing stitch pattern used here features unusual openwork surrounded by symmetrical cables which approach each other and recede again. The shawl is fully reversible and can be worked in any size until the yarn is used up.
This pattern is made in collaboration with Feliz Y Punto.
