The Baryon Shrug may be the coziest piece you’ll ever wear. The architectural shape envelopes you like a hug, and a high foldover turtleneck keeps you warm up to your chin. The front of this shrug is worked from the bottom up. The back is worked from side to side as one long rectangle, then the corners are folded and sewn to the front to create the sleeves. Stitches for the back neck panel are picked up along the top of the back rectangle.

Yarn Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts Lascaux Worsted (75% Punta Arenas wool, 25% Manx Loaghtan wool; 220 yd 201 m/3 1/2 oz 100 g): Scent and Sensibility, 5 (6, 7, 7, 9) skeins.

Needles Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): 16” and 24” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Marker (m); removable m; stitch holder; tapestry needle.

Gauge 23 sts and 29 rows = 4” in K3, P1 Rib on larger needle.

• The front of this shrug is worked from the bottom up. The back and sleeves are worked from side to side as one long rectangle. The corners of the rectangle are folded and sewn to the front to create the sleeves. The back neck panel is worked by picking up stitches along the top edge of the back/sleeve panel and shaping is worked to match shoulder shaping for the front. After sewing the sleeve and shoulder seams, stitches are picked up and worked in K1, P1 Rib in the round for the collar.
