This pattern is for a basic hood but also includes the instructions to make pointy or round ears.
Multiple strands of a lighter weight yarn can be substituted for bulky yarn by simply holding together the strands and doing a gauge swatch, (possibly using a different size hook if necessary to obtain the proper swatch size.)
