“The Hounds-tooth of the Baskervilles” seemed too long. Plus it plays into a common mispronunciation of that title, there’s no ‘s’ on “Hound” and it’s just always bothered me when I hear people say “The Hounds of Baskerville”
But I’m obviously not one to let a literary pun pass me by so I had to keep the reference.

Oh I’m sorry, were you interested in more than just my thought process vis-a-vis my ingenious name? Fine, but if any of you come out with a mitten pattern called “The Hand of the Baskervilles” I’m starting a full on Twitter War

You know what? I just did a search and there are already a number of “Baskerville” cowls, and one of them is Hounds-tooth. Maybe I’m not as clever as I had thought. There’s even a dog coat called “the Hound of the Baskervilles” and it’s hounds-tooth and ADORABLE. You guys should all look that up and send her your money.

Ok so let me re-format my naming approach, I’m riffing on the classic idea of naming a hounds-tooth printed garment “Baskervilles” because classic and obvious literary puns never die. So it’s totally fine that many other people have come up with this way before me.

Wait, what are we even talking about again? Oh right the actual knitting pattern I’m supposed to be selling you.

Ok so I used 3 yarns,
Yarn A is a solid colored light worsted, you need about 240 yards, I used 2 skeins of Blue Sky Eco Cashmere in “Black Rose”
Yarn B is a light worsted contrasting pop color, you need about 12 yards, I used Blue Sky Woolstok in “Red Rock”
Yarn C is a light worsted/DK (?) super fuzzy yarn. You need about 120 yards. I used Blue Sky Brushed Suri in “Whipped Cream” Angora or mohair yarns in this weight would be a good choice as well. If you’re not into the texture of it all, just use the same yarn as A in a contrasting color.

Needles are a US 8 24”

Gauge is 9 stitches = 2 inches, but it’s a cowl so like don’t stress too much about it.
