Basketcase Cardigan

A versatile cardigan that can be worn buttoned as a pullover or open as an outer layer.
I designed Basketcase to give you a color work cardigan that avoids the typical pitfalls or points of angst for so many knitters:
• There are no steeks.
• Use only one color per row.
• Wrong side rows are “resting rows”.
There are no floats to deal with as the simple color work technique uses only one color on any given row. What a great introduction to color work -- without the hassle of carrying two strands of yarn at once!
Plus, it’s worked top-down and seamless so you can try it on as you go and know that it fits! You can also get exactly the length you want. I think it would be super cute a little shorter than shown…maybe at about the top of your hip-bones?
The easy colorwork technique makes for a dramatic yoke with a sweet echo of the colorwork design at the cuffs and hemline. Strongly contrasting colors are advised for the most dramatic effect in the yoke
The sample shown was worked in Shibui Birch with an (optional) additional single strand of Shibui Silk Cloud carried in the main body and sleeves for the softest and coziest fabric ever held against your skin.
Wear this cardigan to dress up a pair of jeans for a casual look or with slacks or a skirt to the office.
Make several in different color combinations and be ready for Basketcase to become your favorite “go to” sweater!
The instructions include charts for use of colors, all else is written instructions, and the pattern has been professionally tech edited and tested.
