I have a soft spot for basketweave. It comes with a lot of memories for me - the first pattern I ever designed was a basketweave scarf. Unfortunately the edges of basketweave tend to curl up, but that’s fixed by knitting in the round! I’m a big fan of beanies with contrasting brims, so I threw in a double-brim with some seed stitch too. The pattern comes with a tutorial on how to make double brims.

The suggested yarn is from We Are Knitters, and uses less than a ball. If you wish to substitute the yarn it’s very straightforward, any bulky weight wool yarn that knits up to the correct tension will work.

The beanie has a matching cowl, which is available for free on my website. See the pattern info on Ravelry. The beanie is available as a free download after signing up to my mailing list.
