The Batlló Shawl is inspired by the Casa Batlló, a building in the center of Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudí, highly influential on Modernisme català, the Catalan Art Nouveau movement. The Casa Batlló is one of the three most important buildings in Barcelona’s Illa de la Discòrdia (“Block of Discord”). The roof is one of the most popular parts of the entire house due to its famous dragon back design. Gaudí represents an animal’s spine by using tiles of different colors.
Batlló Shawl is worked side to side with a fade of 4 colours to illustrate the colours of this roof. The texture and the siluette of this shawl is intentionally to create a great fabric that makes you feel like a dragon skin.

Gauge is measured in textured stitch worked in flat: 10cm / 4 inches are 15sts x 18rows. To make this gauge in textured stitch use, at least, one repeat of the instructions of rows 7 to row22 of section 1.

El Batlló Shawl está inspirado en la Casa Batlló, un edificio en el centro de Barcelona, diseñado por Antoni Gaudí, muy influyente en el Modernismo catalán. La Casa Batlló es uno de los tres edificios más importantes de la “Manzana de la Discordia” de Barcelona. El techo es una de las partes más populares de toda la casa debido a su famoso diseño en forma de lomo de dragón. Gaudí representa el animal con la silueta del tejado y mediante el uso de azulejos de diferentes colores.
El Batlló Shawl se teje de lado a lado, con un degradado de 4 colores para ilustrar los colores de este techo. La textura y la silueta de este chal es intencional para crear un gran tejido que te haga sentir como en la piel de un dragón.
