I have designed and knitted these mittens thinking of my friend whose surname is Lis, which means “fox” in Polish. I wanted them to show playfulness and the vivid colours of foxes and, at the same time, my friend.

Mittens are, for the most part, knitted very simply using the magic loop. The part that is the most complicated is the cuff. Some time ago, I fell in love with the wheat ribbon stitch, and this cuff is my attempt to recreate it based just on pictures of these kinds of ribbons. The other element is the fox itself, worked as colorwork and ears finished with a modified Dandelion flower stitch. The nose and eyes of the fox are embroidered with black thread to add a more precise and contrasting look than if they were knitted.
