When I designed the Beach walk shawl with Julie’s beautiful Killen Sock mini-skeins, I felt that I was taking a walk with her on the Black Isle in Scotland through my knitting!

While this yarn and set of shades is no longer available, the Beach Walk Shawl is a flexible asymmetric triangle shape and can be knitted with any weight of yarn with total meterage up to 480m/ 525 yds. Choose multiple shades or a single shade as you prefer.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I enjoyed designing and knitting the shawl!

Inspired by a winter beach walk, this shawl is a lovely way to amble along the seashore with your yarn! Little eyelet waves are knitted between rows of garter stitch texture, giving the feeling of the tide ebbing and flowing over a sandy beach. The shawl border is worked as a wavy edge with a series of increases made just before casting off.

The main stitches used in this pattern are:
kfb: knit into front and back of same stitch. 1 st increased;
kpk: knit, purl and knit into the same stitch to increase
2 sts; k2tog: knit next 2 sts together;
sk2po: slip 1 st purlwise, k2tog, pass the slipped st over;
yo: yarn over needle to increase 1 st.
