Beading the Heat Shawl
“Beading the Heat” is a reversible lacy wrap knitted with slubby yarn and beads (optional). Appropriate for adventurous beginners, this pattern creates a shawl rich with texture.
Knitted in fingering weight slubby yarn held double, this wrap switches stitches every few rows to keep things interesting.
I worked with Spun Right Round yarn on their fingering weight Slubby base in colorway “Tizzy.” Slubby is as special, highly textural base that includes blips or slubs that create a sort of thick and thin effect.
This pattern is marked “adventurous beginner” and can be tackled by confident beginners who have mastered the basics. Techniques included: K, P, K2Tog, SSK, YO, and adding beads (optional).
The pattern calls for 270 size-6 beads, and I recommend a beading wire for application. I purchased mine from an Etsy seller (CraftyFlutterbyC, no affiliation): https://www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyFlutterbyC
(One test knitter suggested that holding one strand of yarn instead of working double would give the beads greater prominence.)
The finished item measures 15”/38cm wide and 60”/153cm long.
Pattern has been tech edited by Nicky Jensen and test knitted.
